Alchemy

Alchemy is our nod to the Basque country of Spain. There, Tannat and Cabernet Franc are often blended to create a rich and robust red. Alchemy is definitely that. It has firm tannins as you might expect from a Tannat based wine. Tannat also provides nice acidy and is countered by the aromatics and deep, rich fruit of Cabernet Franc. Together these grapes create a wine that is dark in color, rich and complex flavors and definitely one that can pair well with hardier foods.

We included Alchemy as part of our 'You Make the Call' club event and knew it would be one of the winners! This wine really marries the ying and yang that are Tannat and Franc. It is still young so the tannins are a bit more pronounced but they will definitely smooth out in the months ahead. Anyone thinking of having some quality grill time this summer should try pairing this wine with some of the richer cuts like ribs, pork shoulder, etc.
