Touriga
Sierra Foothills
Touriga is the national grape of Portugal, grown in the Douro and Dão regions. Historically, it has often been used as part of a port but recently, it has gained prominence as a regular red wine. It's a dark, rich grape with ample tannins and rich body. Our 2022 Touriga had bright fruit as well with aromas of blackberries and sage. We added a bit of peppery Zinfandel to provide additional complexity and depth. This robust wine pairs well with full flavored foods such as lamb, lasagna, and dense chocolate desserts.

Tasting Notes

Move over Tannat, we have a richer, darker, broodier wine now! This Touriga is definitely just a toddler, but it's still a very enjoyable glass. The tannins make themselves known from the start, but once this wine opens some, it's juiciness really shines. We debuted this wine at two food pairing events. At both, we paired it with rich chocolate desserts and almost all participants said that it was a perfect pairing.
