Temprano
Sierra Foothills
Temprano means 'early' in Spanish. We thought it appropriate to name this wine 'early' since it is an early maturing, food friendly red wine blend. We manually crushed Tinta Amerela to ensure that not all berries were burst to add extra fruitiness. Manually crushing also means that some stems remain which add extra complexity. We also co-fermented a Grenache and Tempranillo from Slate Creek vineyard which made a rich, delicious cuveé. Lastly, we blended in another Grenache to add some brightness. The result is a fresh, fruity wine with complex aromatics and vibrant tannis. One of our most 'universal' wines for pairing with food.

Tasting Notes

There's definitely a lot going on in this glass! This wine is fresh and fruity, medium bodied and yet has decent tannins making it ideal for pairing with a wide variety of foods. Our goal was to make a Chianti style wine but with pan-Iberian peninsula grapes and we think we achieved that and more. Far more complex that we thought at this stage in it's development.
