2022
Grenache Noir

Fairplay

Our 2022 Grenache is polar opposite of our 2021 version. This year we focused on a single, high elevation vineyard to source all of the fruit. Rather than making a bigger, bolder Grenache, we opted to go the opposite route we made a lighter, more elegant version. The nose has that characteristic 'cherry liquor' aroma mixed with some earthiness. The palate is pure, unadulterated dark cherry and bold, young tannins.

Tasting Notes

2022-10-04

Don't let the light color fool you! Although this was done in a lighter style, this Grenache definitely represents the true essence of the grape. The nose initially had a noticeable alcohol tinge to it, indicating that this is a very young wine. It quickly dissipated and the typical 'cherry liquor' aroma came through. The initial sip had some of those infamous cherry notes, but the most notable aspect was the bold, front tannins. As the wine breathed a bit, they too softened and allowed the cherry flavors to come into balance. I'm marking this as 'closed' for now, but know that a month from now that will change.
